Doula Services

What is a Doula?

A Birthkeeper, A Birth Friend. The Official Doula Uk website describes a Doula as someone who provides continuous support for the whole family through pregnancy, birth and in the early days of parenthood. Filling a role that new parents and families have always needed, Doula’s are there to listen, give confidence and not judge. Offering flexible, practical and emotional support in homes as well as in hospitals throughout the UK.

As a former Midwife, I also bring with me over 15 years of previous birthwork experience.

What is a Hypnobirthing Doula?

All of the above with additional qualities of being a Calm Births Hypnobirthing Teacher. I will teach you the full Hypnobirthing and postnatal support Classes and gently remind you of the techniques during your labour and birth.

What area do I cover?

I cover all areas of Kent and am happy to venture into the London borough of Bexley. Ideally anywhere within an hour’s drive of Chatham!,

Postnatal Doula Support

The first few weeks at home with a newborn is a time of great adjustment. I can support you, as you transition to being ‘Mum’. I will support you with loving kindness and will respect your wishes.

Services depend on the family dynamic, but may include:

  • Help and support with feeding, bath time, nappy changes, calming and soothing
  • Providing light meals, prepared in your own home
  • Supporting you in the care of older children.
  • Looking after your baby while you have a nap, a soak in the bath, spend time with your older children or take some uninterrupted me time.
  • Light housework, cooking simple meals, popping to the shops or any other chores to help make your day run more smoothly.
  • I can provide information about local support groups and information
  • As you learn to adjust in these first few weeks, I can provide a caring listening ear.

£25 Per hour (Minimum 2 hour block)

Please do contact me for an initial consultation

NB: As a doula I do not bring drugs or medical equipment to your home, nor will I perform any clinical tasks. I come merely in a support role. I can not ‘deliver’ your baby, you will be the one delivering your baby! I am unable to give clinical advice but instead will offer suggestions, information, research and signposting to enable you to make your own decisions about your care.

My fees reflect my years of Midwifery Experience and the high quality care that I now offer as a Doula. Postnatal Doula Fees include travel costs.
